Wale’s “Ambition” is available now! Read somewhere he was really excited about this track, but it seems to me he should be focusing on “Lotus Flower Bomb” since it’s what everyone is buzzing about and already playing (including me on my show). 1. 5 part documentary “making of” documentary series (which explains why we have been seeing all the making of’s. Check the one with Miguel Here.)
2. Aggressive twitter hash-tag campaign, including printing it on t-shirts and bracelets that came with pre-ordered albums (which explains the #ambition everywhere)
3. Free download of “Slight Work” ft. Big Sean and prod by Diplo on Diplo’d Faceboook Page
4. Advertisement on hulkshare
My Thoughts: Given the social media centered world we live in i feel like 1-3 are a given. For the non social network inclined people this may be innovative, but i think these are really the only ways to promote yourself in this day and age (outside of the standard print, interviews, etc). ONE thing i did think was genius was advertising on hulkshare. No one else has ads on the site and everyone goes there to dl music, so Wale and his team definitively got a win with that one!
