Chipotle Labeling GMO Ingredients On Website Menu– GMO, means genetically modified organisms, aka steroids, which is surprising since they pride themselves on being natural and local. The chain recently became the first fast-food chain to label the ingredients it uses that contain GMOs; the list is deep in its website, not in stores. The GMO-containing ingredients include all tortillas and rice, plus all of the varieties of meat, save pork carnitas.
Actor James Gandolfini, who played Tony Soprano, dead at 51– Beloved Soprano’s star, James Gandolfini, has unfortunately passed away at the age of 51. He suffered a massive heart attack and died yesterday in Italy. Gandolfini gained renown as the mob boss, Tony Soprano on the HBO series. Although he started his acting career later in life he still played many roles on including his appearances in Zero Dark Thirty, Not Fade Away and his Broadway debut with God of Carnage. Many stars have been sharing their condolences and memories via social media.
Starbucks Posting Calorie Label– Starbucks has made the decision to start posting calorie labels for all drinks and snacks in ALL of its stores starting on June 25th. Some stores have already complied but the remaining stores must fall in line with the federal requirement that large food chains post nutritional information on their menus. Representatives said that the changes are meant for “health-conscious consumers to further customize orders by opting for sugar-free syrups or nonfat milk over more calorie heavy alternatives.” Despite the changes, researchers are skeptical about the real effect it will have considering studies have proven that chains under report the actual caloric content of their products by about 7%.
Man Beats Man With His Own Fake Leg– Investigators are saying that 45 year old Joel Parrish pushed 43 year old Jeffrey Johnson to the ground while he was riding around Myrtle Beach on his moped. After punching and kicking Johnson, Parrish allegedly took the man’s prosthetic leg and started to beat him with it. Johnson had to get stitches, had a huge cut above his right eye and couldn’t even talk to police when they arrived because he was in so much pain. Parrish has been charged with felony assault.
App Pays You To Spot Illegally Parked Cars– If you ever loved the parking authority and were really looking for your way to get involved, a new app is out and its just for you. The app is called Spot Squad and it enables users to report illegally parked cars and get a cut of the fine that the victim has to pay. To report you simply take a picture of the car, citing the type of violation and then using the app to send it in. Law enforcement will be notified and will take care of the vehicle as deemed appropriate, even towing it. As of right now Spot Squad is based in Canada but they are looking to expand into the United States.
Serena Apologizes Rape Victims– Last year a girl in Steubenville, OH got drunk and was repeatedly sexually assaulted and the videos were put onto social media sites. Serena Williams responded to the case in a Rolling Stone interview saying that the 16 year old girl “shouldn’t have put herself in that position” and that her mother should have taught better. Unsurprisingly, she received a lot of backlash for her comment and issued an official apology via her website yesterday saying
“What happened in Steubenville was a real shock for me. I was deeply saddened. For someone to be raped, and at only sixteen, is such a horrible tragedy! For both families involved – that of the rape victim and of the accused. I am currently reaching out to the girl’s family to let her know that I am deeply sorry for what was written in the Rolling Stone article. What was written – what I supposedly said – is insensitive and hurtful, and I by no means would say or insinuate that she was at all to blame.”
Black Bear Climbs Backyard Playground– Black bears have been getting mighty comfortable in the Jersey area. A woman in Bucks County got some crazy footage of a black bear sitting on top of a play-ground set! The bear eventually left and was later seen a mile away in another neighborhood. Bear sightings have been increasing in New Jersey, PA and even Maryland.
Male Fetuses Pleasure Themselves– A republican representative from Texas has said that 15 week old fetuses begin their journey of sexual exploration- in the uterus. The former OBGYN said that the movements of the soon-to-be-babies are purposeful- even when their hands are between their legs. The comment was made during a hearing about a new bill that would ban abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy. He says that fetal movements can point to pleasurable sexual sensation and because of that abortion should be limited to the first 15 weeks.

The sexy video shows nudity and suggestive messages. The content was so risqué that Youtube banned it back in March. Some women have taken offense to the video calling the images and lyrics borderline rape. One critic said “Basically, the majority of the song (creepily named ‘Blurred Lines’) has the R&B singer murmuring ‘I know you want it’ over and over into a girl’s ear. Some other comments also said they found him saying “i know you want it” offensive.

Man Wins Lottery Twice In 24 Hours – A Washington State man won the lottery twice in a span of 24 hours. Cary Collings, age 61, bought his first scratch-off on Thursday (June 13th) as he filled up his car. He scratched it at a traffic light and realized that he won $55,555. The very next day Collings was celebrating with a pizza when he bought some more scratch-offs. He ended up winning $200,000 on the first card.
