Shout to my homie Elliot Wilson. He did an interview with Jay Z for the life and times you tube page and addressed a couple things. First Jay talked about Harry Belafonte putting him on blast for not giving back to the community. Jay said, “I felt Belafonte he just went about it wrong. Like the way he did it in the media, and then he big’d up Bruce Springsteen or somebody. And it was like, whoa, you just sent the wrong message all the way around…Bruce Springsteen is a great guy. You’re this Civil Rights activist and you just big’d up the white guy against me in the white media. And I’m not saying that in a racial way. I’m just saying what it is. The fact of what it was. And that was just the wrong way to go about it.
Jay also touched on his thoughts on the Trayvon Martin verdict. He said,
“I didn’t sleep for two days after the verdict. “I was really angry about it. We all still knew it was still a bit of racism in America but to be so blatant? If you ask yourself the question, Didn’t Trayvon have a right to stand his ground? He was being chased. He fought back. He may have won. That doesn’t mean he was a criminal. This guy is not a professional,” Jay said. “Professionals are taught not to profile. … This guy is a novice. This guy is a fin mall cop.”
