America’s Worst Employers – A new list was released yesterday by 24/7 Wall St. that revealed the worst employers for 2013. The rankings were based on employee reviews at Glassdoor.com regarding pay, hours, management, competitors and overall satisfaction. Dish Network took the number one spot with a 2.3/5 score being called “The Meanest Company in America”. The other companies that made the list were Express Scripts and department store Dillards. Dollar General took the number four spot with employees complaining about being overworked, being expected to have full availability and theft within the stores. Radio Shack employees put it in the number 5 spot complaining that middle and upper management play favorites among staff. ADT security system and Sears/ Kmart also made the list.
Zimmerman Saves Family From Overturned SUV – According to the Seminole County Police Department George Zimmerman saved a family of four that was involved in a single-car accident. Zimmerm and another man are said to have pulled the two adults and two children out of the overturned vehicle. Zimmerman didn’t witness the accident and left the scene after talking with the responding deputy. This is the first time Zimmerman has been seen in public since being acquitted of the charges associated with killing 17 year old Trayvon Martin.
Duchess Kate Gives Birth To Baby – The world has been infatuated with the royal family and their newest addition. Well everyone can take a deep breath now. Kensington Palace issued a formal press release saying that Kate gave birth to the couple’s first baby- a boy at 4:24 pm weighing in at 8 pounds 6 ounces. Prince William said that the couple couldn’t be happier and mother and baby are said to be doing well.
South Jersey Native Rescued At Sea In Florida – Kelly Rowland needs to take a page out of this womans book. A South Jersey college student was on vacation in Honduras when she found herself stranded in the middle of the ocean for several hours without food, water or any help in sight. The 20 year old is an aspiring marine biologist and was snorkeling at 4AM because she couldn’t sleep so she went looking for coral samples. While swimming she got a cramp, drifted off the coast and ended up out at sea. It was 16 hours before the resort she was staying in realized she was missing. She was out there swimming. Luckily a couple out kayaking found the girl and brought her back to shore. She’s doing well just recovering from sunburn and jelly fish stings. She said that she will definitely return to the water but she’s going to take a break for now.
Gubernatorial Candidate Wants To Outlaw Oral Sex – The republican candidate for governor in Virginia wants to outlaw oral and anal sex. He believes that the ban will protect children from sexual predators. His campaign website says that 90 sexual offenders may come off of the sex offenders registry if oral and anal sex are not outlawed for everyone. If this law were to pass even adults having consensual sex in their bedrooms could become sex offenders if they were caught. The candidate Ken Cuccinelli says that the law would not be enforced to prosecute consenting adults but regardless the Supreme Court said that this kind of ruling is unconstitutional.
Football Player Arrested For Barking At Cop Dog – Antonio Morrison a Florida Gators football player was arrested for allegedly barking at a police dog and resisting arrest. According to the report the man walked up to the open window of a marked police car and started to bark at the dog inside who goes by ‘Bear’. The dog started to bark back and Morrison continued to make his “woof woof” sounds. When an officer tried to handcuff him he initially resisted. He is being charged with “harassing an on duty animal”.
Trayvon’s Mom To Visit Philly – Sybrina Fulton is going to appear at this week’s National Urban League Conference in Philly. The conference will focus on civil rights, voting rights and job creation. The four day event begins tomorrow (Wednesday). Trayvon’s mom will speak on Friday.
Curved Screen TVs Coming To The U.S. – South Korean TV maker LG Electronics Inc. said it will begin selling 55-inch curved-screen televisions in the U.S. starting today through Best Buy and will be taking pre-orders for two weeks. But it’s unclear whether there will demand for the sets with their whopping $14,999 price tag. The positives are said to be vivid colors, super thin sizes and less power consumption. LG and Samsung are currently both working on smartphone models that will have flexible screens using similar technology.
Skipping Breakfast Could Lead To Heart Attack – Harvard researchers revealed that a study of older men found that those who regularly skipped breakfast had a 27 percent higher risk of a heart attack than those who ate a morning meal. The researchers added that the results could apply to other people as well. Experts weren’t certain but said that people who don’t eat breakfast are more likely to be hungrier later in the day and eat larger meals, making the body process a larger amount of calories in a shorter amount of time. That could spike sugar levels in the blood and perhaps lead to clogged arteries. It was not clear whether a fatty, sugary breakfast such as pancakes with syrup was better than no breakfast at all.
