Cop Fired After Punching Woman Gets Job Back – Lt. Jonathan Josey was fired back in September 2012 from the Philadelphia police force after he was caught on tape punching a woman in the face at a Puerto Rican Day parade. Josey claimed that the woman refused to put down a bottle of beer she was holding and when he went to knock it from her hand she bent down and his hand hit her face. Josey was acquitted of the charges back in February and has been given his job back. A representative for the officer said, “We feel as though it is the correct decision, we felt all along that Lt. Josey should not have lost his job as a result of this incident. He is looking forward to getting back to work and to protect and serve the people and citizens of Philadelphia.” The woman who was punched made a $75K settlement with the city.

Obamas Vacationing On Martha’s Vineyard – The Obamas started their weeklong vacation on Martha’s vineyard this past Sunday. The commander in chief hit the golf course with the White House chef, a wall street journal consultant and his aide. He was said to have been off his game a little bit- unable to sink a putt. Martha’s Vineyard is the vacation spot of choice for the Obamas and they are staying with a friend from Chicago. They will be there until the 18th.

Paula Deen Wins Discrimination Lawsuit – The memes and hype around the Paula Deen comments have died down and she has found some victory in the court room. Yesterday a US judge dismissed the racial discrimination portion of the lawsuit against her that has largely impacted her multimillion dollar enterprise. Deen’s former Uncle Bubba’s Seafood and Oyster House, employee Lisa Jackson said that she was the victim of sexual harassment and racial discrimination. Jackson’s claims of racial discrimination were dismissed because the judge said she had no grounds to sue because she is white. The sexual harassment portion of the suit is still being investigated.

Federal Judge Rules NYPD’s Stop & Frisk Unconstitutional – The New York Police Department’s ‘Stop and Frisk’ policy which allowed officers to stop individuals at random and search them has been ruled unconstitutional by a US District Judge. The judge has said that the practice was leading to the “indirect racial profiling” of both blacks and Hispanics in numbers disproportionately greater than their white counterparts. The judge has also made it mandatory for the city to monitor and oversee that the changes to the ‘Stop and Frisk’ policy are made. Some New York officials believe that the city didn’t receive a fair trial and criticized the decision saying, “No federal judge has ever imposed a monitor over a city’s police department following a civil trial.”

Kris Jenner Responds To President Obama’s Thoughts On Kimye – During a recent interview President Obama spoke on what comprises the American Dream saying that, “kids weren’t monitoring every day what Kim Kardashian was wearing, or where Kanye West was going on vacation, and thinking that somehow that was the mark of success.” He said that the dream used to be comprised of education, a job, a home and a family. Kris Jenner didn’t take to kindly to the references made to her daughter and ‘son-in-law’ and responded to the President’s words. During her own interview with Terrance J she said, “I wasn’t aware that you could only set the bar so high and that you could only dream so big. I was taught dream big, work hard and you could have whatever you wanted. I bet the President has some friends with 10,000 square foot houses and that he wouldn’t mind going over there… when [he was] asking them to have a party for [him] while [he was] campaigning for dollars to run for president. I find it so odd that he’s picking on Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. Well, Kanye West, first of all, doesn’t go on vacation ever… and Kim Kardashian is the hardest working young lady in the world. She never sleeps, she never stops, she never slows down and works so hard for what she’s got. Her job affords her to live in a 10,000 square foot house and I think, if I’m not mistaken, that Mr. President’s job affords him to live in a 55,000 square foot house.”

State Seeks To Stop Same-Sex Marriages Again – The state of PA is still coming for Montgomery County with the goal of stopping them from issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples. Yesterday the county issued 13 marriage licenses to same sex couples bringing the total to 116 couples. The county and more specifically the Register Wills D. Bruce Hanes are being accused of breaking the law. Hanes is being sued by the state which says, “By his own acknowledgment, the clerk is repeatedly, continuously, and notoriously acting in clear derogation of the Marriage Law.” The county has until next Monday to file a response.

Tennessee Judge Tells Parents To Change Their Childs Name – A Tennessee judge ruled parents had to change their baby’s first name from Messiah to Martin. People believe judge overstepped her powers and those who think parents’ creativity should have some limits. The name on his birth certificate was Messiah DeShawn Martin. The judge changed it to Martin DeShawn McCullough, giving the boy his father’s last name while replacing Messiah with his mother’s surname. The judge said “The word messiah is a title, and it’s a title has only been earned by one person, and that one person is Jesus Christ.” Oh Gawd!
