Gunshots Heard Near Capitol Building – Yesterday the United States Capital went on lockdown after shots were heard outside of the building. The female suspect ran her car into a barricade outside of the White House before fleeing the scene and was heading towards the capital. One witness reports hearing about 5 pops while another said the air was filled with gunpowder. The suspect was shot and killed during the altercation and one officer was left injured. A child was found in the backseat of the car but thankfully was not injured. Lawmakers inside trying to work on the government shutdown were on lockdown for about an hour.
Man Defends Son Who Bought Guns To School To Fight Zombies – More craziness out of Florida. A little boy was searched by school officials and it was found that he had an unloaded gun, 6 bullets, a steak knife and a hammer in his backpack. The youngster said he brought them in to fight off the zombies. The weapons came from his father’s home who claims that the boy was impersonating a character from the video game “Minecraft”. His father said, “They use hammers to dig and knives and guns to protect themselves from zombies.” The 9 year old apparently told his friends that he had the weapons- the friends went and told school officials. School protocol was followed and police were called in to investigate. The boy was charged with possession of a firearm, possession of a concealed weapon and possession of a firearm by a minor. The boys father said he was in shock and “almost had a heart attack”. Thankfully there were no injuries- the dad said , “Well, the gun was stored in a drawer but the firing pin component had been removed.” The real question is how did he get all of that stuff in his backpack and to school without dad noticing.
Stacey Dash Disses Obama Again – Stacey Dash got a lot of flack last year when she openly supported Mitt Romney’s candidacy for president. She has spoken out to say that she regrets voting for Obama back in 2008. She said, “I didn’t know anything about [Obama] when I voted for him in 2008. My choice to do so was purely because he was black. Naively, I thought he would be the right person for the job but unfortunately it didn’t turn out that way. Obama had the opportunity to really unite this country in such a profound way, but instead he has done the opposite. We are so divided right now, everything has become about race, more than I’ve ever known in my lifetime.” Dash has been making very political statements via Twitter and has spoken on Fox News about her opposition of the Attorney General’s voucher system for desegregation in Louisiana so this probably is not the last time we’ll hear of her dissing the POTUS.
Siri Voice Revealed – Turns out she’s a voiceover actor who laid down recordings for a client eight years ago. She had no idea she’d someday be speaking to more than 100 million people through a not-yet-invented phone. Her name is Susan Bennett and she lives in Atlanta. Apple won’t confirm it, but audio-forensics expert with 30 years of experience has studied both voices and says he is “100%” certain the two are the same.
Petition Circulating Demanding No Pay For Congress – 800,000 federal employees are out of work right now because of the government shut down and they are not taking it too lightly. A campaign on MoveOn.org includes a petition that is demanding that Congress stops receiving pay during this stalemate over Obamacare. They are getting $174K salaried checks. A democratic representative from Minnesota has introduced the “No government- no pay” act saying, “The inability of this Congress to collaborate, compromise, and get things done has led me to introduce legislation to prohibit Members from being paid when failure to do their job results in a government shutdown. It’s time for Congress to start living in the real world – where you either do your job, or you don’t get paid.” Seems like a fair and more than reasonable request!
Chip Kelly Shoots Down USC Rumors – Chip Kelly has done his fair share of college coaching but has made it clear that he has no plans to return to USC. Despite the Eagle’s rough start to the season he has shot down any rumors suggesting that he is planning to leave. He said, “No, I don’t deal with hypotheticals. I’m the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles. I’m very, very excited to be here and not entertaining anything like that. I’m here.” This isn’t surprising considering he signed a 5-year deal worth $32.5 million with the Eagles at the beginning of this year. The Eagles president backed Kelly up by saying, “Chip is our head coach and paying no attention to the national banter around this topic,” said president Don Smolenski. “His focus is on the Giants. And, next week, it will be on the Buccaneers. And the week after that Dallas.”
