Don Lemon Endorses Stop And Frisk – During Don Lemon made some statements about the Stop & Frisk policies that have people in an uproar. He spoke about the policies in New York City specifically and said that if a new mayor tried to change “the equation of the formula that has reduced crime in New York City to its lowest in decades” then crime rates would creep back up and there could ultimately be “international consequences.” He went on to say “So the question is: would you rather be politically correct or safe and alive? That’s the real issue facing the citizens of New York and, pretty soon, ultimately you.” Twitter did not take these pro-stop and frisk comments lightly. Soon after the comments aired the hashtag #DonLemonOn was trending heavy. Some of the tweets included:
#DonLemonOn Being separate but equal: “You didn’t have to be included at all in the first place”
#DonLemonOn 12 years a slave: Just be glad it wasn’t 13.
#DonLemonOn Jim Crow fire hoses: Would you rather run up your water bill showering at home?
#DonLemonOn Food Stamp Cuts: I mean America does have an obesity problem. Silver linings people, silver linings.

Marvel Adds Muslim Superhero – Marvel is opening for the doors for superheroes and in February the first Muslim (and female) superhero will be added to the Marvel series. Kamala Khan is the brainchild of two editors at Marvel- one of which was inspired by her upbringing as a Muslim-American. Kamala’s family is from Pakistan but lives in Jersey City. She discovers her powers and takes on the name ‘Ms. Marvel’. She will deal with issues like her conservative brother, her overprotective parents and her battle with her faith. The developers recognize that trying to bring cultural diversity into comics isn’t always successful and they expect backlash from both Muslim and Non-Muslim readers. But ultimately they think that Kamala is “about the universal experience of all American teenagers, feeling kind of isolated and finding what they are.”
Toronto Mayor Was Crackhead – After 6 months of denial Toronto Mayor Rob Ford has admitted to smoking crack. Back in May he was originally confronted with the question and denied profusely. Well yesterday in front of countless journalists he confessed saying “Yes, I have smoked crack cocaine. But no, do I — am I an addict? No. Have I tried it? Probably, in one of my drunken stupors, probably approximately about a year ago” (a year ago puts the crack session during the time that he was in office). When asked why he had been “lying” since May he said “I wasn’t lying — you didn’t ask the correct questions. No, I’m not an addict, and no, I do not do drugs. I made mistakes in the past, and all I can do is apologize, but it is what it is.” After the press conference he said that he didn’t even remember the instances that were caught on video and issued a formal apology to Toronto. He said “To the residents of Toronto: I know I have let you down and I cannot do anything else other than apologize. I’m so sorry. I know, I know I have to regain your trust and your confidence. I love my job, I love the city, I love saving taxpayers money and I love being your mayor. I was elected to do a job and that’s exactly what I’m going to continue doing.”
