Alexander McQueen Store Sued For Racial Discrimination – Moselle Blanco is a 43 year old Hispanic woman who has filed a racial discrimination lawsuit against her former employer, Max who works at an Alexander McQueen store in New York City. Blacno says she was the victim of being called offensive comments related to her race and nationality. She claims her boss called her names like “buritto face”, “Goya Princess” and “taco smoke.”She said that in one particular instance her boss said she had “greasy hands like a Mexican” and that she was accused of stealing and smoking cocaine on the job.The woman was fired from the store after working there for 10 years after allegedly failing to call back a dress that the store lent to Jerry Seinfeld’s wife- Jessica. Calls to the boss and the specific Alexander McQueen store went unanswered but corporate representatives made the following statement: Alexander McQueen is committed to equality in the workplace, and we are proud of our diverse employee base. We take any allegations of this nature seriously and will always investigate them thoroughly, but we will not comment on individual cases.

Walmart’s Black Friday – Walmart is following the trend of several other major retailers and will be kicking Black Friday off a little earlier- on Thanksgiving Day.I told you guys the store will open its doors at 6PM on Thanksgiving and more than 1 million employees will be on staff to greet early shoppers. Corporate reps from the chain said that the workers who work the holiday will be compensated generously financially and will be served a “nice Thanksgiving meal” at work.A lot of people have taken to social media to speak out against the earlier opening times saying that people should still be with their families not out in the streets looking for deals.A communications rep for the chain said, “The happy people far outnumber the people who might not want to shop on Black Friday.” The early opening for Walmart last year was pretty successful- they racked up 10 million transactions between 8PM Thanksgiving night and 12AM Black Friday morning.

Guilty Plea in Miss USA Sextortion Case – The 19 year old computer science student who was accused of hacking into Miss USA (his former high school classmate) and other young women’s computers to take pictures of them and then threaten to make the pictures public has pled guilty to the charges against him. He told a Southern California judge “I hacked several girls’ computers and, using their webcams, took photos of them when they weren’t aware.”His official charges include 3 counts of extortion and one count of unauthorized computer access. Abrahams is accused of hacking more than 20 young women’s computers, emailing them to say that he had nude photos of them and then threatening to share the pictures via social media if they didn’t send him more. At least two of the women gave in to his demands and sent additional photos. His lawyer is citing Abraham’s autism as a contributor to his behavior saying that he takes 3 medications daily and has been undergoing treatment for 10 years. He said, “The social disorder had, certainly, a part in it. Again, I say that not to blame the conduct on anything, not to make an excuse for the conduct, but that’s part of the full picture.” Abrahams is facing up to 11 years in jail and $1 million in fines.

Miami Dolphin Owner Speaks – The owner of the Miami Dolphins, Stephen Ross, has spoken out about the bullying allegations made about the Richie Incognito and Jonathan Martin situation. Ross assures that the team will be making a strong effort to clean up the locker room culture. He said he will be meeting with Martin and he thinks this whole situation is appalling however he wants to get everyone’s feedback because “we all know the football locker room is a different workplace than most of us are accustomed to. I don’t want to make any excuses.”He also said, “The most important thing is we care about Jonathan Martin…What’s going on is something that couldn’t have been a worse nightmare…We want to get to the bottom of it; we want to hear what the real facts are. There’s been so much said and done to date that I don’t think anybody really knows what has happened…Changes need to be made. We need to look at ourselves internally.”Ross is currently organizing a 5-person committee that will focus on creating a new code of conduct for the locker rooms. The committee includes former players Dan Marino, Curtis Martin, and Jason Taylor and former coaches Don Shula and Tony Dungy.

Haiyan Aid – 5 days after devastating Typhoon Haiyan tore through the Philippines there are major issues in getting the aid that has been collected to the people who need it most. Food, water and medical supplies are needed desperately but the UN and relief workers in charge of the efforts are having problems getting to the remote communities. One UN worker said “Even in Tacloban, because of the debris and the difficulties with logistics and so on, we have not been able to get in the level of supply that we would want to. We are going to do as much as we can to bring in more,” she said. Her office said she planned to visit the city.” The Presidential Spokesman said not that the airport and bridge are open the supplies that have been getting to the city will now start getting to the more remote areas. The official death toll of the disaster is currently at 1774 but more than 10K are feared dead as thousands more seek refuge from the city and are trying to evacuate. One survivor at the airport said, “There is no help coming in. They know this is a tragedy. They know our needs are urgent. Where is the shelter. We are confused. We don’t know who is in charge.” The UN has already released $25 million in aid and the US another $20 million. Japan, Britain and Australia have also donated tens of millions of dollars to the relief efforts.

Spike Lee Sued – Spike Lee is known for taking a stand but this time he may have gone too far. Back in 2012 when the Trayvon Martin thing first popped off, Spike tweeted an address that he believed to be George Zimmerman’s. This address was re-shared by mad of Spike’s followers many with additional death threats and hate messages.Turns out the address he tweeted actually belonged to an elderly couple.72 year old Elaine McClain and her husband say that Spike encouraged a “dangerous mob mentality” with his tweet. The couple settled with Lee last year when he apologized and paid them $10K but they say that the death threats and tweets are still occurring and causing them “substantial injury”. The couple is now seeking damages “in excess of $15K” plus legal and court fees. The filing asserts “The defendant (Lee) acted in a negligent, grossly negligent, reckless, consciously indifferent, or willful manner, and breached his duty of care to Plaintiffs (the McClains) by way of, but not limited to … encouraging a dangerous mob mentality among his Twitter followers, as well as the public-at-large.” The couple has had to move, they receive death threats in the mail and require police presence near their home causing them “mental anguish and distress … anxiety and fear.” No official word yet on when the court will rule. Lee and his representation could not be reached for comment.
