Teen Gets Into Fight For Confederate Flag – A 17 year old in Arizona named Jacob Greene sparked a major controversy when he drove up to school with a confederate flag flying from his truck. The flag started a fight. The school district issued a statement saying “Open display… bringing it [the flag] in.. it has been proven to be patently offensive to certain groups and the courts recognize that.” Despite the school banning him from flying the flag the boy has decided to leave it on his truck claiming that the district is violating his first amendment rights. During an interview he said, “I’m not a racist person. I’ve done nothing wrong. I’ve flown a flag on my truck. Somebody fought me because of it. I didn’t fight him. I was walking around like a normal person. He confronted me, he hit me first… I was defending myself… The flag means basically more independence, less government. It didn’t mean racism, it didn’t mean slavery, it didn’t mean any of that. It basically meant what they were fighting for was their right to be independent and not have the government control them.” The boys parents stand behind him 100% but Greene will not be allowed to return to school until he removes the flag from his car.

He tore his right meniscus and will need knee surgery. As of right now he is out indefinitely- it cant take anywhere from 8 weeks to 4 months for an injury like this to heal.
PETA Protesting Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade – Representatives from animal rights groups including PETA are protesting Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade for a sea world float. They argue that Seaworld’s float promotes animal suffering and should not be allowed in the celebration. PETA’s official statement said “…allowing SeaWorld to participate in the parade is undeniably an endorsement of animal suffering. The float, which depicts free orcas frolicking in the ocean, is in stark contrast to the 35 orcas who have died in SeaWorld’s cramped tanks. The parade has always been about enjoyment and awe, so Macy’s shouldn’t be celebrating the lives and deaths of the animals imprisoned at SeaWorld.” Macy’s has responded and said that the floats are for “entertainment” and were designed by Macy’s parade studio artists. They went on to say, “We have numerous guidelines that allow us to provide unique entertainment and best serve our performing talent.”
