Roots Being Remade! – According to reports History has plans to remake the classic miniseries ‘Roots’. They’ve acquired the rights to the 1977 miniseries and the original book it was based on. The new series  “will draw both on the book and the original mini from a contemporary perspective.” Actors and writers have not been revealed yet but the new series will be about 8 hours long.

NRA Loses Big At Home – Virginia based- National Rifle Association lost big on Tuesday when Democrat Terry McAuliffe Beat Republican Ken Cuccinelli. The guy who won is in support of major gun control laws including extensive background checks and limits on assault and high capacity weapons. Virginia has over 2 million gun owners and many were surprised that the democrat who is so open about his gun control advocacy won the state. The democrat received an ‘F’ rating from the NRA while Cuccinelli’s grade was an ‘A.’ Despite the NRA being based in Fairfax, VA McAuliffe was adamant about his beliefs even towards the end of the campaign when he said “I don’t care what grade I got from the NRA. I never want to see another Newtown or Aurora or Virginia Tech ever again.” McAuliffe won by one percentage point (he probably lost support for his gun views) but Cuccinelli was seen as being ‘anti-women’ for his opposition to contraception.

Richie Incognito Claims Dolphins Asked Him To Toughen Martin Up– Richie Incognito has been indefinitely released from the Miami Dolphins and has been getting a lot of heat for allegedly hazing fellow teammate Jonathan Martin. According to new reports from two sources Incognito may have been asked, by unspecified coaches, to “toughen Martin up” after he missed 2 work outs (that was not mandatory) last year. If these allegations turn out to be true it will bring new light to the reason Martin left the team. Apparently the NFL has called in special council to investigate bullying on the team. Meanwhile Martin has checked himself into a hospital to deal with his emotional distress. During an interview on Tuesday Incognito told reporters “I’m just trying to weather the storm right now. This will pass.” Fellow NFLers have varying views on the situation. Some fully support Martin’s leaving the team while others think he should have confronted Incognito directly. One player said “You know, at this level, you’re a man. You’re not a little boy. You’re not a freshman in college…You’re a grown-ass man. You need to stand up for yourself.” Quarterback Ryan Tannehill told reporters, “The whole thing, it’s kind of mind-blowing to me. . . . It’s tough for me, because you can’t help a situation that you didn’t know existed – that no one on this team knew existed.” Tannehill was one of several players who said Martin and Incognito were close, stating, “If you had asked Jon Martin a week before who his best friend on the team was, he would have said Richie Incognito. The first guy to stand up for Jonathan when anything went down on the field, any kind of tussle, Richie was the first guy there. When they wanted to hang out outside of football, who was together? Richie and Jonathan.”

Arrow Deer – A deer in Morris County, NJ has been turning heads because it has an arrow protruding from its head. A witness that saw the injured animal said “I saw something that didn’t look quite right. I saw this arrow through him, and then ran back in the house got the camera and took the picture of him.” Animal control is actively looking for the deer that has since slipped from view. There is no blood. The deer is not phased and he is running around with his herd, eating as normal and everything. They hope to find it and save it in time. Poor Bambi.

Smartphone Battery Test Conducted – A British magazine tested the batteries of eight high-end smartphones and found that Samsung’s Galaxy S4 came out on top. Phones were tested for the amount of battery used during a call and during internet use. The Galaxy S4 dominated both tests, and the other top four phones for the call test were: HTC One, Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini, Apple iPhone 5S and the Blackberry Z10.
