Photographer Who Captured Obamas Selfie Speaks – Yesterday we talked about Obama taking selfies with the female Danish Prime Ministers (who it seems he was having a great conversation with) and British Prime Ministers as the FLOTUS looked on with a grill face. IG and Twitter memes flocked showing Mrs. Obama and all her faces before changing seats and sitting between the Danish Prime Minister and her hubby. The photographer who shot the photos has spoken out to clear up any misconceptions that are out there about the images. AFP photographer Robert Schmidt said, “The fact that she’s kind of looking furious in the picture, I think she just wasn’t involved with that moment, but I don’t think it says more than that… took these photos totally spontaneously, without thinking about what impact they might have. At the time, I thought the world leaders were simply acting like human beings, like me and you… It’s because we never get to see them in such light. Nowadays, access is so controlled that we just don’t see that, which I think is a shame. If as media we had more access to them, and showed them more as humans, which they are, then maybe, you know, images like this wouldn’t be so shocking for people, or so entertaining – they wouldn’t make such a big buzz.” When asked about the appropriatness of taking selfies at a funeral, he was it was a memorial and everyone was singing and rejoicing his memory. The atmosphere was a happy one.

George Zimmerman Won’t Be Charged Again – Looks like George Zimmerman is off the hook again. According to reports, he will not be charged in the domestic dispute incident with his girlfriend that he was arrested for last month. This decision comes just a few days after Samantha Scheibe, Zimmermans girlfriend, requested that the charges be dropped. She said they were pressuring her and not allowing her to eat or drink during the questioning. The state attorney made an official statement about the case saying, “Upon reviewing the recent affidavit of the Ms. Scheibe and taking into account the conflicting statements about what occurred, the failure to cooperate with the ongoing investigation, and a lack of any other corroborating evidence or witnesses, there is no reasonable likelihood of successful prosecution.” Zimmerman and his team are of course pleased with the decision. His lawyer said, “On behalf of George Zimmerman, I am pleased that I was able to present credible evidence to reasonable prosecutors who took the time to listen and that justice prevailed. This demonstrates how great our system is.”
TIME Names Person Of The Year – Yesterday TIME named their ‘Person of the Year’. In an official statement Pop Francis was given the title. The Person of the Year title is awarded to the individual who had the most influence on the world and the news, for better or worse, over the past year.” Miley Cyrus came 3rd place for this. Time says, “He took the name of a humble saint and then called for a church of healing. The septuagenarian superstar is poised to transform a place that measures change by the century.” Time’s editor made his own statement saying, “He’s changed perceptions of the church from being this out-of-touch institution to one that is humble and merciful. He’s changed the focus of the church from being focused on doctrine to becoming more about service. And he’s changed the tone in which the church speaks to one of compassion. It’s all about the poor. This is the church as it used to be in its — arguably its best period in the past. And Francis seems to be bringing that back… He’s talking about homosexuality, about giving women a bigger say in the church. These are things that are very, very important. They’re not just words. He’s actually following them up with action.”
Boy Kisses Girl On Hand And Gets Charged – A 6 year old first grader from Colorado has been suspended from school for doing what he’s probably seen some kids movies. The boy named Hunter Yelton told CNN “We were doing reading group, and I leaned over and kissed her on the hand. That’s what happened.” The school has suspended him for sexual harassment. The boy’s mom thinks the steps are a drastic. During an interview she said “This is taking it to an extreme… Now my son’s asking questions, ‘What is sex, mommy?” The boy has been in trouble at school before for being rough with other students and for kissing this same girl on the cheek. The superintendent of schools made a statement about the incident saying “Our main interest in this is having the behavior stop because the story is not just about the student that was disciplined, it is also about the student receiving the unwanted advances.” The boy’s mother says that the girl involved considers herself her sons “girlfriend.” Mom wants the incident removed from the boy’s school record.

The NFL legend said that if they had to do that summit all over again, there would be some athletes left out of the meeting. Kobe would be one of those… ouch!
