News: Pharrell Nominated For An Oscar!

Pharrell Williams was nominated for an Oscar for best original song for “Happy” from the Despicable Me 2 soundtrack. Happy hit number one in the United Kingdom, Australia, Ireland, France, Germany and Switzerland.  When asked about it he said,

“Uh, speechless. Man, I am over the moon.”  When asked where he was when he got the news, Pharrell was really speechless, saying, “Man, I’m sorry, I don’t know.

Pharrell is also up for seven Grammy awards this year and joining Bruno Mars on tour in New York, Los Angeles, Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal.

Also nominated is American Hustle and Gravity tied for the most nominations with 10 nods each. 12 Years a Slave earned nine. Noticeably “snubbed” (as they say) from the list were Saving Mr. Banks in the Best Picture category, Oprah Winfrey for her work in Lee Daniels’ The Butler, and Tom Hanks. Chiwetel Ejiofor was nominated and our girl Lupita from 12 Years A Slave!


The awards will be given out on Sunday, March 2nd in a ceremony hosted by Ellen DeGeneres and airing on ABC.
