With his album dropping tomorrow (February 25th), TDE’s Schoolboy Q performed a free show for his fans in NYC at Le Poisson Rouge that was being recorded for NPR. Filled with new and old Q fans, Schoolboy ran through old and new songs off his album titled Oxymoron, which had already leaked. He joked about the crowd knowing the words to songs on his leaked album and said some people clearly bootlegged his album. He wasn’t phased and continued performing for an excited crowd. He thanked the fans who already have the leaked album and are going to buy the album regardless to support him. At one point he encouraged his fans of all races to say th “n” words in his songs because he didn’t believe in racism. Then he joked to be careful with throwing it around in everyday conversation because people may be upset. At one point he bought out his TDE label mate Ab Soul (reffering to him as Stevie Wonder because of his shades) to sing him Happy Birthday along with the crowds assistance. He turned 27. TDE signee SZA was also in attendence. Q admitted he didn’t plan his set list, but the show was still amazing. He performed some of my favorites: That Yay Yay, Break The Bank, Hands On The Wheels, Collard Greens, Man Of The Year, There He Go and more!
