College Students: need some money? Jay Z Got You. Students entering college for the first time, who are up to 25 years in age, are eligible to apply for Jay Z’s Shawn Carter Foundation Scholarship. All high school seniors, undergraduate (2yr or 4yr) college students, and students at vocational or trade schools are eligible to apply. The fund provides financial aid to “under served and underprivileged students who may not be eligible for other scholarships.” His mother, Gloria Carter, who runs the foundation said, “the under served have so many problems…sometimes they need someone to give them a hand.” Eligible students need to have graduated from HS or earned their GED, have a minimum GPA of 2.0 and a strong desire to earn a degree to give back to their communities. The deadline for entries is April 30th! This scholarship has been in the news as of late thanks to Jay Z’s Barney’s collection.  The funds raised from the collection are going to fund this scholarship, but many people were disappointed to see Jay follow through with his collection after Barney’s was accused of racially profiling their customers. Jay decided to continue the collection and put together a council to discuss some rules on racial profiling at department stores and stop and frisk.  Here are the fruits of his labor. Incoming college students get your money! Don’t ever get money be the reason you don’t go to college! Apply HERE
