News: Columbus Short Leaving Scandal

Sad news for all of the Gladiators out there. Columbus Short, who has found himself in a mess of trouble both on and off the set, will not be returning for season 4 of our beloved Scandal. Short’s most recent issues have been surrounding his estranged wife, Tuere Short, who has accused him of domestic violence- spousal battery charges are pending and the couple is currently going through a nasty divorce. He has another set of criminal charges against him for a restaurant brawl case that took place back in March from which he is facing felony battery charges. (Now that’s in real life). On set the season 3 finale left us with a cliff-hanger. Adnan Salif had everyone’s boo Harrison at gun point. Looks like with this new announcement the season 4 premiere will be a little bloody. It’s sad that Harrison is being written out of the show considering we still don’t really know his story- hopefully they clear that all up before Adnan pulls the trigger. Short released an official statement explaining his exit from the show:

At this time I must confirm my exit from a show I’ve called home for 3 years, with what is the most talented ensemble on television today. I would like to first thank Shonda Rhimes for the opportunity to work with such an amazing cast. Thank you GLADIATORS, who have supported me throughout my entire career and of course to ABC and Shondaland for allowing me to play such a pivotal role in the Scandal series. I have enjoyed every single minute of it. Everything must come to an end and unfortunately the time has come for Harrison Wright to exit the canvas. I wish nothing but the best for Shonda, Kerry and the rest of the cast, who have become like a second family to me in such a short amount of time. For this, I will forever be grateful.
