Forbes has released their list of the top 5 wealthiest hip hop artists of 2014. Leading the pack is Diddy, who was just announced as commencement speaker for Howard University’s graduation ceremony. His net worth is rising since he acquired Revolt TV and he now makes $700 million. He told Forbes,
“Right now my focus is Revolt and making it the number one, most-trusted, most credible worldwide brand for music…And to get Revolt to be the quintessential definition of real time. I think that’s the future.”
In 2nd place is Dr. Dre who comes in with a net worth of $550 million thanks in part to his Beats By Dre fortune and then Jay Z at 3rd with $520 million as a result of his many nine figure deals including Roc Nation Sports, selling Rocawear and his Live Nation partnership which is the company that produces Made In America. Birdman is in 4th place with $300 million and lastly is 50 cent with a net worth of $100 million. It’s clear that all of these hip hop artists, who are well on their way to becoming billionaires, bring in revenue from mediums far beyond just music.
