Yesterday the NBA announced that Kevin Durant, who had his best playmaking season yet this year, is the 2013-2014 MVP. He received 119 of 125 first-place votes and 1,232 of the voting points. Durants win takes the title from Lebron James who has had it for the past 4 out of 5 seasons. If Lebron would have won this year it would have been the first time in NBA history that a player had won 5 times in 6 seasons. James spoke on Durants win saying, “It’s great…Every night you know you stack up against the best and you want to see what you can do no matter if you’re playing against him or not…KD’s had one hell of a year, both offensively, the streak he was one with the 25-plus, 30-plus and all across the board. … Kudos to him, much respect to him and he deserves it. He had a big-time MVP season.”
Kevin’s speech was so humble and selfless. He thanked everyone around him and his individual teammates with a message for each of them. The most touching part was Kevin’s words for his mom that will bring you to tears. This is a stand up guy and he deserved this award. Watch it below.
