With Donald Sterling on his way out (hopefully, since it seems he’s fighting him being pushed out of the NBA), the LA Clippers have wasted no time restructuring their operations team to give it a new face. After reworking some things and much thought the team has decided to name head coach Doc Rivers as the President of Basketball Operations. Rivers released this statement, “I am extremely excited to work closely with Kevin, Dave and Gary in their new roles as we continue to move the culture of the Clippers forward…Our goals are not only to become a championship team, but a championship organization as well. I feel with the new structure of the Basketball Operations Department, we have taken a positive step in that direction.” Also added to the team’s operation department are Dave Wohl- General Manager, Assistant Coach Kevin Eastman- Vice President of Basketball Operations and Gary Sacks- Assistant General Manager. By giving Doc a bigger role it ensures he doesn’t leave because of the racism scandal, it gives the team a different face and it also makes prospective and existing players more comfortable with the LA Clippers organization.
