Last night, Nov. 25th, i attended the Trey Songz charity concert in NYC. Trey was charging $5 to watch the concert online and all the proceeds from the tickets, merchandise and online stream are being donated to Treys “Angel With Hearts” (AWH) foundation to benefits young kids. I have to say this is an admirable gesture and i’m happy Trey is sending this positive message out to the youth and our community.
The Hammerstein was mostly filled with decked out, Stilettos wearing, die hard Trey Songz fan. If Trey wanted to he could have stopped singing entirely and let his fans sing all the songs (which they knew word for word). Aside from the ratchet chicks walking around barefoot with their heels in hand (theres always a hand full at every event) and the chicks falling over cuz they had too much goose (on sale for $10 a glass) most women were super excited to hear Trey flirt with all of them and see him undress himself article by article as he got sweatier. Bet you mad chicks were disappointed that he never entirely took his shirt off and only teased them by lifting it a few times to wipe his sweat.
For his first set (the ballad set), Trey wore a tux complete with bow tie and after he bought out Ne-Yo to perform “The Way You Move,” he disappeared backstage while Ne-Yo performed “One In A Million” and then came back out wearing a backwards fitted, leather jacket, a black tee and jeans. Ne-Yo and Trey danced around the stage singing “Give Me Everything Tonight” after which Ne-Yo bounced from the stage and Trey continued singing the song and then finally ending that set by saying “That’s My Shit.” lol
He did most of his faster tempo’d songs during the second half and even had the crowd sing happy birthday to him since his b day is on Monday (28th). He also bought some chick on stage that brought him a present and balloons and let her wear his hat and wipe the sweat off his 8 pack. After opening the present (a money clip), he rolled into performing “What I Be On” his new song with Fabolous. He proceeded to sing a couple of hooks he’s on, saying “i got hooks for days,” and then segued to do my fav song “Top Of The World.” During that song he bought out his momma, along with singing human angels (okay), and then the show was over as they ascended down the stairs and lights out!
I have to say i really enjoyed his show. Since the last time i saw him perform i can definitely see that his show has gotten better. Last time i found the first half (the slow jam half) to be too long, choppy and a little boring. Now, he tells stories between the songs and sets everything up nicely. This time the transitions were seamless and very entertaining even tho the show was 3 hours long! Definitely worth the money to see him take his clothes off, sing, wipe off sweat, hump the air and everything else he does that had every chick around me screaming.. lol AND it’s for charity! @MinaSayWhat
NOTE: this was a last minute decision to go see this concert and i was late, so all the footage was taken by my android phone and might look and sound crazy.. lol I apologize for my horrible singing during some of the songs, I couldn’t contain myself at times..
