2012 Recap: Mina SayWhat’s Biggest Interviews Posted on December 31, 2012March 8, 2013 By Mina SayWhat Hey It’s Mina. I had a big year and i am grateful for everything I’ve experienced and the things i have accomplished this year. I left SIRIUSXM and NYC and went to Philly to join the Power 99 staff. It was a big change for me. I’ve been in North Jersey & New York my whole life. Making the trip 2 hours away to start a new job in a new city and do a morning show was a hard decision, but i did it and I’m happy i did. South Jersey life is waaayyyy different then North Jersey life. Sounds stupid, but for a girl that reps her hood and has lived there all her life, it is a big change. Philly has welcomed me and I feel honored to wake that city, South Jersey and Deleware up every morning. I thank all the listeners because they have really let me into their lives and they didn’t have to do that. I am proud to say we are the #1 Urban Morning Show in our demographic and thank you to the people who have support me in all that. My co-host Mikey Dredd and my big brother Cosmic Kev have really had my back the whole time. I’ve had some big interviews including Rick Ross, Alicia Keys, T.I., RZA, Trey Songz, Meek Mill, Busta, Ne-Yo, Quest Love and many more, but these are my favorites. Click below for more to see them. 1. Nas: I got to interview my favorite artist of all time. I been my waiting my whole professional career to interview him. I was so nervous, but i got him to open up about Kelis. Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 2. Powerhouse Interviews: Powerhouse 30 was big for me. First, I hosted the Up And Comers Show and interviewed MGK, Currensy, Rockie Fresh, Tito Lopez and more. Then for Powerhouse i bought a couple people on stage (Trey Songz & French Montana), but backstage i was crazy. I talked to Usher, Big Sean, T.I., Miguel and Omarion. Check out this recap of all of that. 3. Miguel: Miguel is the homie. I believed in his talent before anyone knew who he was. I was even the first to play “Adorn” on the radio; Months before anyone was checking for it. When i went to the House Of Blues in AC to check him and my girl Elle Varner earlier this year, he talked to me, exclusively and for the first time ever, about what his new album was going to sound like. He also said other artists” better stay in their F’in lanes.” Ouch! 4. ASAP Rocky: I love talking to Roc. He shows so much love and he’s very down to earth. In the summer he dropped by to talk about the album. He told me the date his album, Long, Live ASAP, was dropping and had the internets going crazy. It turned out to be a lie.. lol This was the start of a series of alleged drops dates. He recently told me he really thought the album was dropping on that date, but that it wasn’t ready in time. Check out what started the frenzy. 5. Lupe Fiasco: Talking to Lupe is always interesting. He makes me think and i appreciate him for that. At the end of the day he really cares about the welfare and well being of people and the culture. Lupe and I had a serious conversation behind the scenes about what he said in this interview. I explained to him why he can’t say “Obama Kills Children,” but here is how the interview went down. 6. Misa Hylton-Brim: This is one of my favorite interviews because Misa (Diddy’s Baby Mom) admitted that Diddy is engaged to Cassie and this put to rest the speculation and rumors. Listen 7. Ice T & Coco: I got to touch Coco’s booty. I mean really!! That’s self explanatory! 8. Jahlil Beats: This was recent, but it’s still 1 of my favs only because this whole Meek Mill and Cassidy beef is big for Philly and Jahlil really broke it down. He also said Jay/Kanye are working on “Watch The Throne 2” 9. Kendrick Lamar: Because he’s the good kid in a m.a.a.d city.. duh.. and because he talks about 2 Pac 🙂 10. Rodney King: This was Rodney’s last radio interview before he passed and that will go down in history forever. Watch him freestyle at 7:00. May God rest his soul.
