2014 Recap: Mina SayWhat’s Biggest Moments Posted on December 31, 2014January 5, 2015 By Mina SayWhat 2014 – What a year. I’ve really grown into my own and the path ahead of me is more clear to me than ever. I know where I’m going and how I’m getting there. Last year around this time i was just happy that everything was falling into place. Now that things have settled, everything is so clear to me and i couldn’t be more grateful for my growth and the things i have achieved. I want to thank my morning show team. We have really grown throughout the past year. We have been going for 3 years strong and that’s a blessing. My mentors for keeping my head on tight and also guiding me down the right paths. My mom for being my best friend always and supporting me no matter what. Jalysa and Drea for helping me manage my dance team. The Sixers Strong organization for bringing me on board. Everyone over at Fox 29 Philly for continuing to give me the opportunity to talk to their audience. My personal team (Aleisha, Shiana, Yusef, Max, and Angie) and all the listeners who religiously listen every morning. Love you guys. xoxo Below are my biggest moments of 2014! Enjoy! 1. Mina SayWhat’s 1st Woman’s Educational Seminar – I’m really proud of this. I’m in my second year of my dance team and this year i held a educational seminar with 2011’s Miss Pennsylvania Amber Joi talking with the girls on my team. We spoke on everything from making a great impression, to confidence, dressing for success, researching, resumes, mapping out our goals and more! Watch the video below. Check out the pics HERE. Next year i plan on making this a lot bigger. Watch my dance team performing at Power 99’s Powerhouse HERE. 2. Speaking at Syracuse University’s Newhouse Audio Panel – Speaking at the school i graduated from felt amazing. I’ve been back to Syracuse before to speak to the students, but this time i was invited back to the S.I. Newhouse School Of Public Communications to speak to media majors and radio people. While i was there i was also on a panel for my college radio station, WJPZ, and i really felt like at that moment my accomplishments and what I have reached at such a young age was finally being acknowledged by the school that gave me so much. Thank you to David Rezak, Steve Leeds and Dean Branham for the opportunity. Check out pics and the full write up HERE. 3. Becoming An Ambassador For Philadelphia 76ers “Sixers Strong” – I was awarded the honor of being an ambassador for the Philadelphia 76ers community outreach program called “Sixers Strong” this year. I specifically work with Philadelphia’s first latino youth basketball league called “La Liga Del Barrio.” I played basketball while in high school and continue to follow basketball closely so this is a perfect match. This is the first season i am involved. Tip off for the league is at the top of the year and i can’t wait to start working with the kids. Until then you can find find me at a Sixer’s game! Thanks to Mike, Rebecca, Shana and everyone at the Sixers. Just became an ambassador for the @Sixers “Sixers Strong” community outreach program!! I’ll be working with their Latin youth basketball league “La Liga Del Barrio” I’m so excited! Thanks for the honor! A photo posted by Mina SayWhat (@minasaywhat) on Mar 3, 2014 at 2:41pm PDT 4. One Year At 103.5 The Beat – In October marked my 1 year anniversary doing weather for a station in Miami, 103.5 The Beat. I also attended their 1st “Beatdown” concert this year and i am super honored to be on their staff. Thanks to Doc, Grace, AO and everyone at the station that welcomed me with open arms! We had a lot of laughs and he explained lot of things to me (on and off the mic) that i didn’t foresee him talking to me about. 😉 It’s amazing when people that i grew up listening to and are real bosses in this game have a real, honest, fun convo with me. It’s such a crazy feeling. E.I. NAS. Check out the full Jeezy interview HERE It’s not 2015 yet and I’m already planning. More good things are on the way! May you have a great year as well!
