”Beloved’ Across The Bridge:’ Giveon Brings His Love Letter To Philly Soul To Camden Posted on November 13, 2025November 13, 2025 By Mina SayWhat Philadelphia soul didn’t just shape the sound of R&B, it rewrote the emotional and musical blueprint of modern music. Its lush strings, aching honesty and unmistakable orchestration and groove became the standard for R&B storytelling. Now, just a bridge away in Camden, New Jersey, R&B singer Giveon is preparing to bring that influence full circle with his Dear Beloved Tour on Saturday at the Freedom Mortgage Pavilion, a love letter to Philadelphia soul. “This album was deeply inspired by the Philly sound. Legends like Teddy Pendergrass, The O’Jays, Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes, and Gamble and Huff’s whole production legacy,” Giveon says, reflecting on the roots of his latest studio release and the inspiration for the tour, “Beloved.” “It was my take on that era, through my own lens and voice. So to be bringing this project to Camden, right across the river from where so much of that music was born, is really special for me.” Giveon released his sophomore album “Beloved” in July and it has already produced standout moments, including a RIAA gold certified song for “Twenties” and fan favorite “Rather Be,” which climbed into the Top 30 on Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop chart. This fall, the music is coming to life on an ambitious nationwide run that began Oct. 1 and will wrap in New York City next month. But for the seven-time Grammy Award-nominee, this tour is not simply a promotional victory lap, it is a reenactment of how “Beloved” was built in the first place. “The album was made live, so it’s made to be performed live,” he explains. “Camden is going to feel the energy we created in the studio during those countless nights. Every sound, every instrument was intentional.” That intention has defined his year. At the GRAMMY Museum’s Ray Charles Terrace in mid-September, Giveon was honored with a string of new RIAA achievements: “Heartbreak Anniversary” is now six-times platinum, while “Like I Want You” has gone three-times platinum. Additional records “Favorite Mistake,” “The Beach” and “Lost Me” have reached platinum and gold plateaus that cement his dominance in modern R&B. Despite all the accolades and milestones, “Beloved” marks a different kind of arrival — the arrival of something deeper. “’Beloved’ came from a more grounded place in my life,” Giveon shares. “It is warm and mature because that’s where I am right now. I have lived a little more, loved a little harder and lost a little deeper. “It is raw. It is honest. It was never meant to be flashy. Just timeless, like the music that inspired it,” he says. That pursuit of timelessness is why this East Coast stop looms so large. Philadelphia crowds are famously unforgiving, but when they love you, they love you loudly. Giveon relishes that. “Performing on the East Coast is always special, especially this time of year,” he says. “The weather starts to get a little crisper, the leaves begin to change, and R&B just hits a little deeper in the fall.” The Dear Beloved Tour will carry Giveon through Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, Toronto, Washington, D.C., and beyond. But Camden feels symbolic, a spiritual return to the soil that shaped the sound shaping him now. And as “Beloved” continues to resonate with fans as a full-body listening experience, Giveon is intent on giving that same completeness back from the stage. Giveon’s performance Saturday won’t just be another tour stop — it will be a continuation of a legacy, of a sound, of a love letter written to music. It’s a modern chapter in a story that began just across the river. “I just hope everyone in Philadelphia feels the love and connection I put into it as much as I do,” Giveon says.
