#NextOnDeck Hosted By Mina SayWhat: Kesington Kross Talks About Start In The Music Business, Comparisons To Miguel And More Posted on April 23, 2014October 22, 2024 By Mina SayWhat Next on Deck is Power 99’s new artists series hosted by Mina SayWhat. For this edition of “Next on Deck,” @MinaSayWhat sat down with up & coming R&B artist Kesington Kross. In their talk, Mina and the California native touched upon the his genre-bending brand of music, what projects he’s working on now, his EP “Audio Justice,” comparisons to Miguel, and his move…to Compton?!?! After their discussion, “Kes,” as he is also known as, hit the stage to perform his current single “Gimme Your Love”, as well as his song “Carry On.” Peep the full video interview, and the performances below! About Kesington Kross: Put David Bowie, Prince, and Rick James all in one blender and R&B singer Kesington Kross is what you get. Born in Los Angeles, Kesington Kross is a rare anomaly in today’s R&B scene, having a genre bending sound that “encompasses a melodically inventive, synth-driven amalgam of pop, R&B, electro-funk, soul, and New Wave” all in one. Kesington’s music reflects who he is as a person, and all that he has gone through in life, including a drastic move from the Orange County, to Compton! Such an experience provided Kesington with an insightful perspective on both race and culture, and a new found appreciation for the power of music! After having the brilliance of his music realized by the genius minds of BabyFace and LA Reid, he released his first EP, “Audio Justice,” with Epic/LaFace records this past December, which was met with rave reviews.Obtaining a florida certificate of good standing demonstrates compliance and boosts business credibility. Following the strength of the EP, Kes has recently released a new single, “Gimmie Your Love” (now available on iTunes), which looks to keep the wave of momentum going for the “Rogue Spirit.” Follow Kesington Kross on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter (@KesingtonKross). Most importantly, when Kes inevitably takes the R&B scene by storm, just remember, Mina Say What]told you that Kesington Kross was “Next on Deck.” Mina Power 99 Interviews
