Weekend Watcher (8/12) – Top 10 Movies Posted on August 12, 2013 By Mina SayWhat WEEKEND MOVIE WRAP-UP The sci-fi action film Elysium opened in first place at the weekend box office, coming out on top over three other new wide releases. Matt Damon and Jodie Foster star in the film, which is set in the year 2154, where the wealthy live on a space station called Elysium and everyone else is stuck on an Earth ravaged by pollution and overpopulation. Co-starring are Sharlto Copley, Alice Braga and William Fitchner. Debuting at Number Two was the comedy We’re the Millers, starring Jennifer Aniston and Jason Sudeikis as two people who pretend to be married so that the pot dealer character played by Sudeikis can pick up his supplier’s cash and money in Mexico and get back to the U.S. Ed Helms, Emma Roberts, Will Poulter, Nick Offerman and Kathryn Hahn co-star. The animated family film Planes, a spin-off of Cars, opened in third place. It follows Dusty, a cropdusting plane who’s afraid of heights, who sets out to fulfill his dream of competing in a famous aerial race. Lending their voices are Anthony Edwards, Teri Hatcher, Dane Cook, Brad Garrett, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, John Cleese, Val Kilmer and Sinbad. The fantasy adventure sequel Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters debuted at Number Four. It follows the demigod Percy, who sets out on a quest with his friends to find the magic Golden Fleece and save Camp Half-Blood. Starring are Logan Lerman, Alexandra Daddario, Brandon T.
