Mina SayWhat Launches “Power Squad” Dance Team Posted on May 15, 2013December 28, 2013 By Mina SayWhat Power 99’s Mina SayWhat from the Rise N Grind Morning Show has started a dance team for Power 99. The team is called the “Power Squad” and it’s purpose is to facilitate a mentorship program between Mina, the college girls and junior and senior high school students with an interest in dancing. The participants must maintain a GPA average of 2.3 and above and they perform at Power 99 events. Mina says, “I decided to start this dance team because it’s important for these young ladies to have positive guidance and influence in this stage of their lives. With schools closing in Philly and afterschool programs shutting down across the tri-state due to budget cuts, it’s more important than ever to offer a positive outlet for young women. When I was in school there were many sports teams, dance teams and programs after school with good role models leading these organizations. I learned from being a part of those groups. I want to help these ladies grow, learn, mature and stay focused on what’s important – one dance practice at a time. Mina practiced ballet, break dancing and loved to dance growing up. She was on a cheer squad briefly in grade school and was part of the neighborhood dance team when she was a kid. Mina was also on the “Kalabash Dance Troupe” for 4 years while at Syracuse University. Below is a bit of their work. For more videos, pictures and recaps of events they perform at check THIS tumblr page. Enjoy! Shout out to All Access And Urbaninsite for the love! Best Of Mina SayWhat
