Interview: Q Parker (Founding Member of 112) Talks About Releasing Music And Touring Independently Posted on October 14, 2026October 27, 2026 By Mina SayWhat After three decades in R&B, founding member of 112 Q Parker is embracing independence, celebrating lasting love and redefining his legacy as “The Romance Dealer.” Quinnes Parker, though fans know him as Q, is entering a new chapter, one rooted in independence, growth and an unwavering commitment to love. The former 112 singer is stepping confidently into his solo journey, bringing his signature R&B sound to a new generation of listeners while reminding longtime fans what made them fall in love with his music in the first place. Since becoming fully independent in 2024, Parker has embraced the challenges and rewards of managing his own career. He’s currently promoting “Stare,” a single from his next solo album while touring across the country. On Nov. 20, he will release his third solo album, “Evolution of Romance, Volume 2: 24-7.” He also kicked off his Romance Dealer Tour earlier this month and will be stopping at City Winery Philadelphia on Saturday. After spending approximately 25 years accustomed to record labels handling marketing and promotion, the transition has been a learning experience. “I’m enjoying the independence, but I will tell you, it is a lift,” Parker admitted, acknowledging the financial, physical and emotional demands of doing things on his own. Still, the rewards make the work worthwhile. With a small team that shares his vision, Parker sees every accomplishment as a collective victory. He compares the experience to football: everyone has an individual responsibility, but when the team scores a touchdown, everybody celebrates. His approach combines lessons from his years with the Grammy Award-winning R&B group 112 and the realities of today’s digital music landscape. While he still believes in the value of personal connections, radio interviews and face-to-face engagement, he recognizes that artists must also understand streaming platforms and online promotion to remain competitive. That adaptability reflects the personal growth that has accompanied his 30-year career. Having turned 50 in March, Parker says each decade has brought a different perspective, influencing both his music and his understanding of relationships. That understanding is at the heart of his identity as The Romance Dealer. For Parker, romance is more than a musical theme or a catchy nickname. It is a daily practice that requires respect, kindness, thoughtfulness, integrity and consistent effort. His philosophy is informed by his 24-year marriage, which has taught him that lasting relationships require partners to navigate challenges together rather than turn against one another. “The biggest lesson I learned is learning how to fight together versus against,” Parker said. He believes that love must be reflected in how partners communicate, respond to conflict and practice forgiveness. Romance also means showing appreciation through everyday gestures, from bringing home lunch to sending an encouraging text or reminding a partner that they are valued. That philosophy inspired his earlier single “Beg,” its title representing “bringing endless gratitude” to a partner. For Parker, the concept of begging is not about apologizing after making a mistake, instead, it means continually showing up for someone because they matter. He also emphasizes that romance must be reciprocal: both partners should be willing to offer the same consideration they expect to receive. Through “Evolution of Romance, Volume 2: 24-7,” Parker hopes to reconnect listeners with that understanding of love, making romance a continuous commitment rather than an occasional grand gesture. Something that requires nurturing 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Beyond his solo ambitions, Parker remains proud of 112’s musical legacy. He credits the group and Bad Boy Records founder Sean “Diddy” Combs with helping popularize the fusion of smooth R&B vocals and hard-hitting hip-hop production. As for a reunion featuring all four original members, Parker remains hopeful. Previous conversations have not produced the desired outcome, but he refuses to rule out the possibility. “I do see a day that the four original members are on stage,” he said, while stressing that the timing must be right. For now, Parker is focused on building his own legacy. His Romance Dealer Tour brings together nostalgia, dancing, reflection and relationship advice, creating an experience that celebrates both his history with 112 and his evolution as a solo artist. With this album and his independent career moving forward, Parker’s message is clear: he wants to be the artist listeners turn to when they need a reminder of what love can look like. “When it comes to this romance, I’m your guy,” he declared. After 30 years in music, Q Parker is still evolving and he’s making sure romance never goes out of style. https://www.phillytrib.com/entertainment/music/q-parker-is-dealing-romance-with-new-album-and-tour/article_2af3cd96-7675-4e09-818f-f0f0b584802d.html Philadelphia Tribune
