Event: Rick Ross Has “Mastermind” Album Listening Party Posted on February 12, 2014February 21, 2014 By Mina SayWhat Rick Ross hosted an exclusive album listening party for his upcoming album “Mastermind” that bought out the whos who of the music word. I (this is Mina.. lol) was in attendance along with Cosmic Kev. Meek Milly was in the building. Wale, DJ Khaled, Swiss Beatz, Maino, Busta Rhymes (who i didn’t see, but heard was there), Kirko Bangz, Stalley, Mack Wilds, August Alsina, Fabolous, Fred Da Godson and so many more gathered inside New World Stages, an off-Broadway theater, in New York. Ross introduced his album with help from DJ Khaled in a small amphitheater inside the venue and everyone listened to the album while watching a slide show of various pictures that were pertinent to the mood of each song. The album sounds dope! Many people are calling this a “classic.” You be the judge and cop on March 4th! Song stand out: a track called “Nobody” with features a Biggie Smalls sample and talks about being “Nobody (Til Somebody Kills You).” Introing the song, police recordings and news audio clips played describing the drive-by shooting that Rick Ross was the target of. As the song continued the audience absorbed the images of the damage done to his Ross’ car during the shooting along with images of the late great Biggie Smalls who was gunned down as his career begun to explode. I could not help but feel the eerie parallel between Ross and Biggie; a similarity Diddy himself has vocalized. Diddy and French Montana are also on the track.
